The WashMo Fantasy Football League began in 2018 with eight original members, most of whom met though school or sports in Washington, Missouri. Original members included Brad Carpenter (League Commisioner), Liam Flood, Keegan Gilligan, Blake Straatmann, Jon Kuchem, Brian Trigg, Corey Kluesner, and Cole Hamai. The inaugural year featured two-week matchups. Brad Carpenter was the winner and Cole Hamai was the loser of Season 1. Carpenter walked home with his prize money, and Hamai was encouraged to compete in a charity 5K as his punishment for coming in last.
The league would grow to 10 members in 2019, adding Parker DuMontier and Austin Subke. The league was underwhelmed with Hamai's punishment from the 2018 season, and decided a tougher punishment was necessary in order to keep weaker teams involved throughout the duration of the season. Corey Kluesner was the unfortunate recipient of this first, true punishment. The Waffle House Challenge was implemented for the first time, and the true spirit of Punishment Weekend was born.
We reached the current form of a 12-member league in 2020. Ronnie Suggs and Danny Widrig joined, despite the known risks that come with losing. Punishments would evolve and take different forms throughout the years, but one thing remained constant; the members would forever have a weekend circled on their calendar every year, where they'd get together, reminisce about the season, and make fun of the loser(s).
Following the 2023 season's Punishment Weekend, Widrig would excuse himself from the league. The 11 remaining members spent several days nominating, deliberating, and voting on new, prospective members. In the end, an invitation was extended to another WashMo native: Collin Mantle. Mantle would replace Widrig immediately.
This website has several purposes. Not only do I want to use it to keep everyone in the loop – I want it to be like a time capsule, capturing our journey for future generations. Who knows what's next for the league? I'm all for keeping the fun alive and making sure we stick around for a good while. Someday, when we're looking back, this site will be like a treasure trove of memories, reminding us of all the good times we've had together. There will be years where members can't attend the Punishment Weekend, and this is understandable, but we must all do our part to keep the league strong and our friendships stronger. Fantasy Football is merely a game to most people, but to us it symbolizes something much bigger. We are the Fantasy Fucbois, and we’ll always be Fantasy Fucbois.
