Season 2
- 2019 -
- 2019 -
Liam Flood won the 2019 season in unlikely fashion. His Gallupping Into 1st Place team defeated Jon Kuchem's Two Gurley’s One Kupp in the league championship by an 87.42-point margin, making him the first and only owner to win a WashMo Fantasy League championship with a losing regular season record (6-7).
2019 was also the only season in league history where the winning team and losing team finished with the same regular season record.
Parker DuMontier and Austin Subke joined the league in 2019. To celebrate the additions to the league - and watch the annual last-place punishment - the group got together in Kansas City. The residents of Windows lofts (DuMontier and Kuchem) were the hosts of the weekend. The group enjoyed multiple nights out, the pink I Suck at Fantasy Football shirt made its debut, and everyone brought a different bottle of whiskey for a group sampling. No one was married at this point, but most of the girlfriends were also in attendance for Punishment Weekend this year.
Corey Kluenser - I Digg Paige's Double A Kupps - was the league's loser of 2019. Despite finishing ahead of both Brad Carpenter (5-8) and Blake Straatmann (5-8), as well as tying Austin Subke, Cole Hamai, and Liam Flood, Kluesner would fall victim to the Losers Bracket. Though there was much deliberation about the rightful loser of 2021, GroupMe message archives would reveal the Losers Bracket loser - Mr. Widrig - was the loser of the league. This contentious event would later inspire the development of the league bylaws, and change the structure of the league punishment in its entirety.
What: Waffle House Challenge
Where: Kansas City (Waffle House, 6840 E Front St, Kansas City, MO 64120)
When: January 25, 2020
Who: Corey Kluesner
The Waffle House Challenge is designed to cause pain, ridicule, and constipation. This is not a fun challenge, and has been deemed the most difficult punishment enforced by the WashMo Fantasy league.
An entire day sitting inside the famed, 24-hour waffle joint is the essence of this challenge. However, there's one way to reduce a sentence down from 24 hours: eating waffles. For every Waffle House waffle consumed, one hour is deducted from the sentence.
Example: You walk into Waffle House to start your sentence at 10:00am. You eat 13 waffles. You are now eligible to leave the Waffle House at 9:00pm the same day instead of 10:00am the following day.
The boys would pop in and check on Kluesner once or twice, but for the most part Kluesner was by himself. He would go on to eat 15 waffles in 9 hours.
